  • Quick release offshore hooks FPSO & FSRU

Certified mooring systems for FSRU and FPSO operations

Based on our standard Quick Release Mooring Hooks, we have developed a special quick release offshore hook for FPSOs, designed for safe and efficient tandem mooring and offloading operations and for FSRU’s, for side-by-side mooring with vessels or terminals. By choosing our quick release offshore hooks, you ensure safety, efficiency, and reliability for your offshore mooring operations.

    High Load Capacity
Standard SWL of 250–300 tons, higher capacities available on request.
    Safe Installation
Supplied with brackets or foundations for welded or bolted deck mounting.
    Certified for Hazardous Areas
ATEX / IECEx compliant solutions available for offshore environments.

Quick Release Offshore Hooks for FPSO Operations

We developed the FPSO quick release hook based on our proven quick release mooring hook designs. Therefore, this offshore quick release hook is specifically suited for tandem mooring and offloading operations on FPSOs. In practice, the design supports safe, controlled, and reliable line handling in demanding offshore conditions.

The Straatman FPSO quick release hook features a single fixed hook configuration. In addition, we integrate the hook with a dedicated bracket or foundation for mounting on the FPSO deck. This approach simplifies installation and ensures a stable connection to the deck structure. Depending on project requirements, crews can install the hook by welding or bolting. As a result, the system fits both newbuild FPSO projects and retrofit applications.

Safe working load FPSO mooring hook

We design the FPSO quick release hook for high loads and continuous operation. Therefore, the most common safe working loads are 250 and 300 tons. In many projects, these capacities cover standard tandem mooring requirements.

However, some FPSO operations require higher load capacities. In those cases, we custom-design and manufacture offshore quick release hooks for increased loads. As a result, each hook fully meets project-specific operational demands and applicable safety standards.

Quick Release Offshore Hooks for FSRU Operations

FSRU quick release hooks play a key role in safe and controlled mooring operations on Floating Storage and Regasification Units. Therefore, operators install these hooks directly on the FSRU deck. From this position, the hooks support reliable side-by-side mooring with LNG carriers, service vessels, and offshore terminals, even under changing environmental conditions.

We design our FSRU quick release hook systems with safety, reliability, and ease of operation in mind. In addition, each hook includes a fast and fully controlled release mechanism. This mechanism allows crews to release mooring lines instantly during emergencies or during normal unmooring. As a result, the system reduces risks to personnel, connected vessels, and the FSRU itself.

Key Features of Our Quick Release Hooks

    Strong & Durable Design
Our quick release offshore hooks are built to handle high loads, with a Safe Working Load (SWL) of 250 to 300 tons. On request, we can design hooks for even higher capacities.
    Easy Installation
The hooks are installed on the deck surface of an FPSO or FSRU using a custom foundation with a bracket or base plate, which can be welded or bolted into place.
    Mooring Load Monitoring System
Our hooks can be equipped with load monitoring sensors, displaying real-time mooring force data. If the load exceeds a preset limit, visual and audible alarms will activate. Monitoring panels and cabinets can be installed in the control room for easy access to mooring data.
    Certified for Hazardous Environments
All components of our quick release offshore hooks are ATEX or IECEx certified to meet the strict safety requirements for hazardous offshore environments.
    Safety Features
The hooks have built-in safety mechanisms to prevent accidental or unintended release, ensuring secure mooring under all conditions.
    Multiple Release Options
To suit different operational needs, our hooks can be operated in various ways included manual/remote/hydraulic release
