Capstans
As an integral part of your quick release mooring hooks or separate custom-made capstans
The Straatman Berthing Aid System (BAS), also referred to as the Docking Aid System, supports safe and controlled berthing operations at jetties and terminals. The system uses advanced laser and LED technology to measure the distance between the jetty and an approaching vessel in real time.
In addition, the Berthing Aid System monitors key parameters such as bow and aft distance, approach speed, and vessel angle. Operators can view this information on a standard PC or on a large LED display installed at the jetty. Moreover, the Berthing Aid System can display additional operational data, including wind speed, current, and wave conditions. As a result, operators gain clear insight during berthing and can make timely, well-informed decisions to ensure safe mooring.
The laser system measures the distance between the jetty and the side of an approaching vessel in real time. Therefore, operators can monitor the berthing process accurately. The system displays these measurements clearly on a screen mounted on the jetty as well as in the control room. In addition, the LED display technology comes from our affiliated company, FactoryLab.
Moreover, the system supports several optional features, such as wireless tablet communication and advanced pager systems. By combining all system expertise within one integrated setup, we offer a high level of flexibility. As a result, the Berthing Aid System and Docking Aid System can be configured to match specific terminal layouts and operational requirements.
